The World Leadership Congress connects students from around the globe for a week of inspiration and action empowering young leaders to discover and embrace their leadership potential, challenge the “status-quo” and change their world for the better.
HOBY takes students on a journey that explores personal leadership, group leadership, leadership for society, and global leadership, empowering students to develop their ideas and make a positive impact on the world.
For eight days, our youth participants engage in leadership and team building exercises, participate in hands-on community service projects and learn from and speak with world class leaders in business, philanthropy, politics, entertainment, the media and more; all in a cross-cultural setting.
HOBY alumni become the next generation of compassionate leaders, entrepreneurs and humanitarians addressing the needs of their communities and the world.
HOBY works hard to make sure each and every student has a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience at the World Leadership Congress, as well as an educational experience that will develop their leadership competency while building confidence and a passion for service to others.
We bring in leaders, professionals, educators, and citizens that engage participants and provide the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of leaders in a wide range of fields. We combine the “classroom” aspect of our program with hands-on learning, including a day of community service throughout the city of Chicago.
Students, or as we refer to them, “Ambassadors” are assigned to a small group of approximately 12-13 individuals from around the globe with an adult Group Facilitator; groups are then assigned to a color section. Ambassadors from the same school/state/country are typically NOT in the same group; we work hard to make sure every ambassador has the opportunity to network and meet a diverse group of people.
Plan now to be a part of the 2018 WLC
The program takes place on the Lakeshore Campus of Loyola University Chicago and begins on Saturday, July 21st and concludes with the WLC Closing Ceremonies Gala on Thursday, July 26th.
Students depart the Loyola University campus on Saturday, July 28th. HOBY meets students at their international gateway (Chicago O’Hare airport for most) and provides all transportation and logistics for attending students; once students land in Chicago—HOBY is there!
HOBY offers an optional early arrival for our international delegations as well as an optional three-day tour program at the conclusion of the WLC, offering those students who would like to see more of Chicago the opportunity for an organized, chaperoned tour, departing Chicago on Monday, July 30th.
Students participating in either option will be provided housing and all meals as part of these programs.
